One day he's there...the next day he's not!
I'm sure more than a few people were stunned to discover the Rod Ryan Show sidekick, Travis Bruce Golightly -- also known as T.B.G. -- was M.I.A. starting on Monday morning of this week. I went to the The Buzz website this morning to look for an announcement, a post, or any other information about what happend and where he might be...nothing!
His picture and profile was gone and replaced with a new sidekick, Mark. All information, all knowledge of Travis Golightly gone. He'd been erased!
Now, it's possible that I missed some announcement and/or farewell address that might have been made. If so, it was certainly the briefest of moments in airtime.
However, I would dare to speculate that his abrupt walk off the show, on which he's contributed for as long as I've been listening, was not on pleasant and mutual grounds between himself and Clear Channel Communications, who owns The Buzz (KTBZ). One reason is because I would expect some kind of news about it to be posted on their website.
Another reason is the response to an email I send to Vince Richards, the Program Director of the station, this morning about Travis' disappearance:
"I'm sure that something must have been announced...but during that brief passing moment I must not have been listening...What happend?"
I received an immediate 'Out of Office' reply that he is out of the office for a week; apparently Mister Richards is on a beach somewhere tipping back his Corona Extras (and good for him). But a few hours later I receive this message:
"Travis has decided to pursue other career opportunities outside of the radio business.
SENT FROM MY BLACKBERRY WIRELESS HANDHELD."
Take whatever you will from that message, but I'm not satisfied. I'm going to need a little more information than that. I'll be bringing you more as this story develops.....
