Apparently, Jake was right! "...Radioheads come and go," as did Travis Golightly from the Rod Ryan Show (rhymes!).
I did an article about T.B.G.'s abrupt disappearance from the airwaves earlier this week speculating that there must have been some serious drama preceding it.
After receiving little information from the Program Director at The Buzz, Vince Richards, I sent the following message to the man himself:
"What's up Rod?
"What happend to Travis? Please fill me in. I must have missed the brief
and abrupt announcement -- if indeed there was one.
"All Vince Richards tells me -- emailing me from his Blackberry -- is
that 'Travis has decided to pursue other career opportunities outside of
the radio business.'
"Come on! That sounds like something the CIA would tell the family
members of someone they just chucked into...Guantanamo.
"Was he "disappeared"? Was he "liquidated"? Does his family know where he
is? Does he have legal representation...?"
I was wrong in my speculation, and Rod Ryan confirmed it himself:
"No real story here... He just quit! I knew for about 2.5 months. That's really all there is, No juicy fight... Nothin. I still talk to him every week.
Rod"
Maybe it was a "juicy fight" that I was hoping a little too hard for. But you don't always get what you want.
Well, that about wraps it up for this non-juicy news. I'd like to thank Rod Ryan (#1 DJ in the State of Texas) and Vince Richards for their responses and information. You guys are awesome!
Jao out.
